A new attitude infuses personal style with freedom and authenticity. Down with business suits. Up with celebrity dressing! At home, on errands, out with friends, in the airport, Divas show their panache.
Designers Tania Heath and Daniel Bohbot know what is required.
Delving into the sixties for interior design projects has changed the way I want to dress. That’s when I found Daniel Bohbot‘s line Hale Bob. Bohbot is a Paris designer in touch with the cultural moment. Finding a match in the confident luxury of west coast haut chic that Hollywood celebrities love, he established his base in LA. The clothes are easygoing, easy on the budget and attract all the right attention. The patterns, reminiscent of the sixties, play on full volume. Bohemian glamour for big girls. Salma Hayek, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Cameron Diaz, Taylor Swift etc. caught out and about wearing Hale Bob. Peoplewatcher magazines run stories on who looked best in the same Hale Bob dress!
This Take-Notice Casual Style features leather leggings with flowy tops and short boots, Bohemian print jersey dresses and tall neoprene boots with colour-match heels, ponchos over leggings, little furs and leather jackets over chiffon tunics or maxi dresses, and a wardrobe of sandals.
I’m discarding slacks, grey pinstripe suits and structured pantsuits then remixing cashmere sweaters, shirt-tail shirts, pencil skirts and skinny jeans with new pieces like Hale Bob ultrasuede leggings, camies, beaded tunics and powerhouse daytime dresses.
This camisole with a wide band of lace at the bottom is fantastic. It allows any sweater, shirt or jacket to pair with leggings without showing too much. I have both white and black. My black/white stripe shirt over the white lace cami over black rayon leggings gets a nod from glamourous clients. A black lace cami under shaped cashmere pullover ensures that leather leggings are permissable workwear. Suddenly passing gentlemen find opportunities to smile and chat.

The shapes are perfectly basic. The quality is top drawer. tanyaheathcanada.com
Leading persons from the sixties and seventies who remained true to their intentions are in the news. I’m thinking of Steve Winwood who is still creating new music that captures the moment. Of Jean Luc Goddard, ever avant guard, whose Le Mepris was rereleased to inspire a new generation of filmmakers.
Living through the intervening years we’ve come to know ourselves. We grew through adversity and grace. We figured out how to make the most of it all.
Back then we claimed equality to men. Now its time to claim equality with ingenues*. Women know how to be charming, attentive, wise and organized. Hard to top that.
*ingenue – from the French – young unsophisticated female
